For the first time in four years, the Federation Royale Marocaine de Badminton initiated the BWF Shuttle Time school programme in April 2019.
The aim of the initiation, which was last held in Morocco in 2015, was to create awareness and encourage grassroots development of badminton through Shuttle Time resources, targetting local coaches and physical educational teachers.
Two Shuttle Time courses (Tutor and Teacher courses) were held in the Ouled Mbarek Gymnasium, Khenidra, in the eastern region of Morocco. The tutor course, held from 24 to 26 April, had eight participants and was followed by the teacher course from 27 to 28 April with 20 participants who were PE teachers from local secondary schools.
Both courses were successfully delivered by Annirao Dajee, BCA Development Manager. The courses were supported by the Ministry of Education and the Moroccan Olympic Committee. Both institutions promised full support for the development of Shuttle Time in Morocco. It is likely that more Shuttle Time activities will be implemented in Morocco in the near future.
“I wish to congratulate the Federation Royale Marocaine de Badminton and the BCA for the successful and professional organisation of the courses held in Khenidra and assure the federation of the support of the NOC for future activities in grassroots development, especially in the implementation of Shuttle Time projects in schools,” said Hassan Fekkak, Technical Director of Moroccan Olympic Committee.
“Our congratulations on the successful organisation of the Shuttle Time Tutors and Teachers courses in Khenidra. From feedback obtained from tutors and teachers, they possess now the pedagogical tools and resources required to ensure successful implementation of Shuttle Time in Schools. I wish to thank the BWF for putting these useful tools at the disposal of all participants,” said Mohammad Dada, Provincial Director of Khenidra.
