The imaginative implementation of Shuttle Time University Course by Antoine University in Lebanon saw the university being awarded a Gold Certificate of Accreditation by BWF.
The aim of the implementation was to train future PE teachers to understand and deliver a good badminton session to younger students aged between 5 and 15. The course was delivered by a Shuttle Time Tutor to 40 PE university students. Conducted over three months, between September and December 2022, it was the first Shuttle Time University Course delivery in Lebanon, and was promoted by the Lebanon Badminton Federation and the university.
So impressed was the Dean of the university that he announced that further implementations were likely.
“It was a pleasure to conduct the course. It was my first time,” said Paul Roukoz, Shuttle Time Tutor. “I was so excited when I started because I had more time to present the contents of Shuttle Time and to explain and deliver, and create more fun and safe activities for the students.”
The Shuttle Time University Course covers both theory and practical work and is delivered in a modular format which all links to the Shuttle Time Teachers Manual and Lesson Plans. The course is suitable for university and college students taking teaching, PE and sports-related courses.
While there are around 1,060 trained Shuttle Time Teachers in Lebanon, the new Shuttle Time University Course is designed to offer International Certification to trainee Teachers, while providing the support to deliver fun and safe badminton lessons to children aged 5 to 15.
BWF has promoted the Shuttle Time University Course materials since the beginning of the year where the resources are available in five languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, German and Portuguese. The Lebanon Badminton Federation sees it as an additional useful tools to promote badminton in the university level, especially targeting physical education students or sports students.
