Teachers and members of sports organisations from Belgrade, Krusevac, Zrenjanin, Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Subotica, Vrbas, Pozarevac, Vrsac and Valjevo attended the course led by the head coach of the Serbian national team and certified Shuttle Time Tutor Milan Barbir.
The Badminton Association of Sebia (BAS) held its third Shuttle Time education course in October at the National Badminton Centre in Belgrade.
Over the weekend of 22-23 October, more than 30 teachers and sports workers from all over Serbia completed Shuttle Time education, which has been implemented since 2017 in cooperation with BWF and Badminton Europe.
After theoretical and practical training, school kits with badminton equipment were distributed to all participants.
“It’s extremely gratifying to see such a large number of people putting their effort in badminton education,” said Radomir Jovović, president of the Executive Board of BAS.
“The beginning of this project dates to 2014 and we can be proud more than 60 participants have obtained the official Shuttle Time certificate up to this year. We’ve provided school sets to more than 50 schools and sports centres in 2022 and managed to create the opportunity for thousands of children to play badminton.”
So far, more than 200 participants have completed Shuttle Time education courses supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Serbia. With the support from BAS, BWF updated the Shuttle Time manuals in Serbian incorporating the inclusivity element making children with and without disabilities able to enjoy badminton in a fun, safe and inclusive manner. These are available on the BAS website with all the materials and video lessons, as well as a mobile phone application in Serbian language – all effective tools for designing badminton lessons in Physical Education classes.
A fourth Shuttle Time education course is planned for the end of 2022 at the same venue.
