The Badminton Association of Ukraine is reaping the rewards of its October 2019 initiative to implement the BWF Shuttle Time Schools Programme.
Just five months later, the country has delivered fourteen Teacher Courses, two Tutor Courses and one Trainer Course. The result was more than 270 certified teachers in various cities like Kyiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Ternopil, Odesa, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv and Uzhgorod.
The objective of the Association was to promote more badminton activities in every region and school in Ukraine, with the eventual goal being the creation of a national schools league. On that front, Shuttle Time played an important role in introducing to teachers the basics of the sport and delivering fun badminton activities to school children.
A Shuttle Time Teacher course conducted in Ternopil on 11 February 2020 attracted more than 15 participants and brought about positive feedback. Teachers enjoyed the programme’s modern methods, which are available online and on the Shuttle Time mobile app.
One of the tutors said: “My goal is to make every teacher fall in love with badminton. I won’t forget the moment when one of the kids said he dreamt about badminton in his sleep. It’s the best feedback I’ve had as a coach!”
More Shuttle Time activities are being planned for the next two months to increase the number of teachers delivering the programme.
