BWF-SOAP Regional Badminton Training

September 3, 2018

Badminton World Federation (BWF) & Special Olympics Asia Pacific (SOAP) had collaborated to deliver a 2-days BWF Shuttle Time Regional Training in Singapore from 11-12 August 2018. The training consisted a BWF Shuttle Time Face-to-Face Teacher course & a Special Olympics Asia Pacific Local Club Development Workshop.

More than 15 participants from 8 different countries involved in the training. All the participants are genuine volunteers of Special Olympics in their respective countries and they are all eager to give equal opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities to develop physical fitness, be courage and be a part of the community.

The 2-day workshop, which involved both classroom and on-court training, aims to improve the standards of badminton coaching and increase sports participation for athletes with intellectual disabilities across the Asia Pacific region. Now we have more than 15 certified BWF Shuttle Time Teachers equipped with skills to deliver inclusive badminton training programmes for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Lets support their mission and make it happen through BADMINTON!

A Memorandum of Understanding between Badminton Oceania Confederation, Badminton Asia and Special Olympics Asia Pacific was signed during the BWF AGM Meeting 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.
