With support from Badminton Confederation of Africa (BCA), Shuttle Time Schools Programme hit Namibia in late April with the delivery of its first Teachers Course over three days in Oranjemund.
Attended by 16 participants, the course showcased the teachers’ passion towards badminton and they took away lesson plans to deliver practical sessions to their students.
The teachers enjoyed the course learning new skills and techniques on how to deal with kids as well as the important role badminton can play in improving the physical and mental health of children.
The Teachers Course was followed by a Shuttle Time Training Camp, which saw children aged 5-19 practice badminton.
There was also fun in the sun, with people of Oranjemund – including children, teachers and parents – participating in an AirBadminton session.
This is the first step of Badminton Federation of Namibia (BFN) in being involved in the Shuttle Time Schools Programme and AirBadminton to promote the sport and increase badminton participation in the country.
BFN President Lynn du Perez said: “It was such a great experience for the teachers, kids and parents. Everyone enjoyed participating, playing, having fun and our badminton family became bigger. Thanks to BWF and BCA for providing the Namibian people this opportunity to know and enjoy badminton.”
