Bhutan Badminton Federation (BBF) has been offering Shuttle Time Teacher Course consistently since 2012 to promote the sport.
As a result, badminton has become well-liked in the country and many teachers have taken it up after Shuttle Time, which has equipped them with the skills to guide and encourage interested students.
In September 2022, to expand the reach of Shuttle Time, the programme was delivered in the country’s easternmost district for the first time ever, aiding BBF’s goal of establishing a badminton base in the region. A robust tour led by Shuttle Time national coordinator Dorji attracted participants from three districts.
On 3-4 September, Dorji trained 25 teachers (15 male, 10 female) in Mongar at the Mongar Middle Secondary School.
A week later (10-11 September), Dorji conducted another session at Trashiyangtse Lower Secondary School for 26 teachers (19 male, seven female).
The final delivery with 27 teachers (15 male, 12 female) in attendance took place at Tangmachu Higher Secondary School in Lhuentse from 17-18 September.
The first-time participants acknowledged knowing more about badminton at the end of the programme and now feel ready to lead safe and enjoyable Shuttle Time activities for kids in their communities and schools.
