Shuttle Time Uzbekistan, launched in 2015, has contributed massively to badminton’s development in the country. In the last five years, more than 35 BWF Shuttle Time Teacher Courses have been delivered and over 1,600 certified BWF Shuttle Time Teachers trained in different regions and cities of Uzbekistan.
In November and December, more than 90 coaches from other sports like volleyball and table tennis attended the BWF Shuttle Time Seminar. The idea of this initiative was to promote badminton as a sport, with coaches tapping into the knowledge of grassroot badminton development in a year where playing contact sports was a challenge in many countries. Under these conditions, badminton presented itself as a safer alternative.
Majority of the coaches attended the seminar without the knowledge of badminton but are now looking to become badminton coaches. They were impressed with the available Shuttle Time resources and found the seminar very useful for their coaching situations.
Azizbek Madjitov, Shuttle Time National Coordinator of Uzbekistan:
“With the implementation of Shuttle Time, we have new education programme for coaches. It is one more way to promote badminton to coaches as Shuttle Time provides an internationally recognised certificate.”
